Information for Participants

Registration desk

The registration desk is located at the main conference venue (Campus Aula) Universiteitstraat 6, 9000 Ghent and will be open as follows:

 

Wednesday 18/09/2019: 11:00 -20:00

Thursday 19/09/2019: 8:00 – 19:00

Friday 20/09/2019: 8:00 – 19:00

Saturday 21/09/2019: 9:00-13:00

 

The participants must first go to the registration desk to get their name badge, conference materials and certificate of attendance. A certificate of paper/poster presentation will be made upon request and can be collected on Friday.


 

Conference identification badges

You will be issued with an official conference badge when you register. You must wear this badge at all times during the conference to gain access to panel sessions and key events. Delegates not wearing a badge may be prevented from conference access.

 

Opening Plenary, ESC Awards Ceremony and Welcome Reception

You are warmly invited to attend the Opening Ceremony that takes place on Wednesday 18 September, starting at 18:00 at the University Forum (UFO), Sint-Pietersnieuwstraat 33, 9000 Ghent. This is followed by the ESC Awards Ceremony.

Afterwards, please join us at the Welcome Reception at 19:30 at the same venue.

 

Refreshment breaks

Tea, coffee and refreshments will be provided for free during the coffee breaks in all venues on Thursday and Friday. On Saturday coffee break will only be held at the Aula Ceremonial complex.

 

Poster session, Belgian beer reception and ‘ice cream social’

You are invited to attend the Poster Session and Belgian Beer reception (sponsored by Sage) which takes place on Thursday 19 September, from 19:00 until 20:00 at the main venue (Campus Aula). The Ice-Cream Social event takes place on Friday 20 September, from 15:15 until 16:15, also at the main venue (Campus Aula) and is in partnership with the American Society of Criminology and the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences.

 

Farewell dinner and party

We are excited to invite you to the Farewell dinner on Friday 20 September at 19:00. You are invited to taste typical Flemish food, delicacies and drinks. We will delight you with a three course Flemish flavours menu for € 45, beverages (aperitif, wine or beer, and coffee) included.

Drinks during the party are not included. After dinner the Faculty cover band ‘Legal and Loud’ will give a live performance, followed by a party where a DJ will entertain you for the rest of the evening.

The dinner takes place at the ‘Sint-Aubertus Church’, which is an old church within the monastery ‘Poortackere’, only at a few minutes walking distance from the main conference venues. Tickets are available on https://www.eurocrim2019.com/farewell-party.

 

Internet access

If you have Eduroam configured on your mobile device, you will be able to connect to Wi-Fi by clicking on ‘Eduroam’ from the list of wireless networks available. If you are not an Eduroam user, you can connect to Wi-Fi using the ‘UGentGuest’ option. Please use the following user name and password:

Scientific programme and book of abstracts

The final updated conference schedule and book of abstracts will be available on https://www.eurocrim2019.com/scientific-program  from September 16, 2019.

 

Conference app

We are using a conference app which you can access on your Android or iOS phones and tablets. The app allows you to view and search the conference programme and select which sessions you are interested in attending.

The app will be available from September 16 onwards. To download the app, please visit the conference website: https://www.eurocrim2019.com.

 

Volunteers

We have a team of volunteers providing assistance throughout the conference. They will be wearing red conference t-shirts. Please do not hesitate to contact them if you require assistance.

 

Luggage, belongings and lost property

Please ensure that you keep your luggage and belongings in a safe and secure place at all times, and do not leave them unattended. Ghent University and the ESC cannot be held responsible if any items are lost or stolen.

Please report any items of lost property to the information or registration desk. Upon checkout, most hotels will allow you to store items of luggage in a locked room which can be collected later. If this option is available in your hotel then please make use of it.
